The Holy Blood

“Extraordinary basilica with the relic of Christ’s blood available for viewing. Most definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. The architecture is stunning and something astinishing to see everywhere you look both inside and out.”

“There are 39 steps up to the church but they are large steps. You stand in front of this sealed altar and place your hand on the glass. this unit contains the blood of Christ in a phial. You take a moment and the lovely lady gives you a leaflet and she wipes the glass for the next person. There is wonderful music playing and you can take time to reflect and light some candles in the Basilica.”

“The queue to see the Vial of our Lord’s blood wasn’t too long but it was definitely an experience worth doing. Once we had seen the Vial, we looked around the Church which is really beautiful and definitely worth seeing.”

“The church was quiet and the believers took the steps up to pay homage to the phial in front of a colourfully dressed cleric. It’s worth visiting just to see the gaudy medieval style decoration of the church and the very unusual cauldron shaped pulpit complete with canopy.”
