The Market Square of Bruges, in the shadow of the majestic Belfry tower, was the scene of mediëval festivals, fairs, tournaments, uprisings and executions. Located in the heart of the city, this is the place to be in Bruges, full of life, buzzing with people, music & restaurants.
In all four directions of the square are unique buildings that provide a glance of Bruges’ glorious past. The statues at the centre of the square are of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck, two freedom heroes from the 14th century. A place full of history in the heart of downtown Bruges!
On the Market Square you will find the Historium, a historical experience attraction. Just around the corner you will find the Bruges Beer Museum, and next to the Market you’ll encouter the 3D Museum, depicting the masterpaintings from the Flemish Primitives.
